Purpose of the Role
The incumbent will be required to safely execute fleet maintenance work according to the prescribed standards while ensuring the safety of self and others.
Job Responsibilities
The specific tasks to be performed by the position holder will include:
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical problems as and when required.
- Repairing and servicing all light/medium vehicles within the established standards.
- Completing preventive maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, and replacing filters.
- Keeping equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles.
- Maintaining vehicle functional condition by getting driver feedback.
- Completing work order closure sheets.
- Replacing parts and components.
- Maintaining vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
- Checking fan belts, wiper blades, radiators, batteries, and other safety equipment.
- Preparing accurate service and repair reports in a timely manner.
- Complying with state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
- Performing any other duties as per instructions from the Direct Line Supervisor.
Qualifications
- Full Grade 12 certificate.
- A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience as a qualified mechanic.
- Valid driver’s license.
