Job Purpose

The Field Accountant will assist the HQ Finance Team with a wide range of duties related to payments, data capture, account reconciliation and analysis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of internal payment vouchers for field staff and suppliers and ensuring accurate coding and support documentation as per ZayoHub policy.
  • Raising receipts in the field office and ensuring sufficient support documents are attached.
  • Preparation of journal vouchers with proper supporting documentation for approval.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of imprest disbursed in the field.
  • Maintaining and updating an efficient filing system in Mwandi and Tahalima and ensuring an efficient tracking system and proper storing of documents are in place.
  • Verifying the accuracy of staff retirements before raising journal vouchers.
  • Provide information and supporting documents required by auditors under the advice of supervising staff.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all ZayoHub policies, changes in accounting and tax compliance, and specific donor requirements.
  • Maintain the Mwandi and Tahalima assets register.
  • Other general duties in the finance and operations office as may be assigned by the supervising finance staff and the Chief Financial Officer.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional certification – Full CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of the SAGE accounting package is advantageous.
  • High integrity, analytical skills, accuracy and ability to work independently.
  • Capacity to prioritise and organise own work, meet deadlines and pay attention to detail.

Reporting Lines: Reports to the Senior Accountant with collaboration from the Chief Financial Officer with a dotted line to the Head of Mafisa Expansion and Service Delivery.

Preferable Candidates: Candidates from Livingstone, Mwandi, Sesheke, and Mongu locations are highly encouraged to apply and will be considered as the first choice.
