Job description:

Overall Job Purpose:

  • The Materials Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials required for production and maintenance.

  • This role ensures that materials are available when needed, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous operations.

  • The ideal candidate will have 5 / 10 years of experience in industrial mechanical engineering and a strong understanding of supply chain management within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the procurement process, including sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and manage stock levels to ensure materials are available when required.
  • Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to forecast material needs and plan accordingly.
  • Monitor supplier performance and establish strong relationships to ensure timely delivery and quality standards are met.
  • Implement and maintain efficient material handling and storage procedures to optimize space and reduce waste.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations in all material handling and storage activities.
  • Conduct regular audits of inventory to verify accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve material management processes and reduce costs.
  • Provide regular reports on inventory status, procurement activities, and material usage to management.

Experience required

  • At least 5 years’ maintenance engineering experience in the mining/mineral processing industry or 10 Years Supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrate high level of skills in utilizing the approved maintenance information systems.
  • Utilize procurement business rules.
  • Full Working knowledge of appropriate Computerized Maintenance Management System (pronto) transaction codes.
  • Demonstrate high level of material knowledge.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in warehouse system.
  • Comply to requested service level.
  • Follow the procurement work process.
  • Implement the disposition process summary report.
  • Create rebuild/repair process summary report.
  • Complete return verification report (itemized cost sheet of credits)
  • Knowledge of appropriate standards, protocols, and systems.
  • Microsoft Office knowledge and skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communications, planning and organizing.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • This position may require standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and move materials as needed.
  • Occasional travel to supplier sites or other company locations may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CPIM, or equivalent).
