Job Description:
Apex is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Fisheries Officer to manage and protect fishery resources. The Fisheries Officer will be responsible for implementing fishery management plans and ensuring sustainable fishing practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement fishery management plans and policies.
- Conduct research and surveys to monitor fish populations and habitats.
- Collaborate with local communities, fishermen, and other stakeholders.
- Educate the public on sustainable fishing practices and conservation.
- Enforce fishery regulations and conduct inspections.
- Prepare reports and proposals on fishery management and conservation.
- Promote aquaculture and sustainable fish farming practices.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Fisheries Officer or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of fishery management and conservation principles.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Skills:
- Proficiency in fishery management software and tools.
- Strong communication and project management abilities.
- Passion for marine conservation and sustainability.
Experience:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in fishery management.
