Job Title: IT Administrator/Network Administrator/Manager

Reporting to: Head of School

Responsible for managing and maintaining our organisation’s IT infrastructure, ensuring network security, and providing technical support to end-users.

Key Responsibilities

Network Administration

Network Setup and Maintenance: – Plan, design, install, and maintain the organisation’s network infrastructure, ensuring reliability, scalability, and security.

Troubleshooting: – Diagnose and resolve network issues, including connectivity problems, slow performance, and network-related hardware or software problems.

Security: – Implement and maintain network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

Network Monitoring: – Monitor network performance and proactively address potential issues to ensure optimal network functionality.

System Administration

Server Management: – Administer and maintain servers, ensuring proper configuration, security, and performance.

Operating System Updates: – Apply updates and patches to servers and workstations to maintain system integrity and security.

Backup and Recovery: – Implement and manage data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical information.

User Account Management: – Create, modify, and delete user accounts and manage access permissions.

Technical Support

End-User Support: – Provide technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues, troubleshooting problems, and offering guidance.

Help Desk Management: – Manage help desk tickets, prioritise support requests, and ensure timely resolution of issues.

IT Infrastructure

Hardware and Software Procurement: – Collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to procure hardware and software, ensuring compatibility and cost-effectiveness.

Inventory Management: – Maintain an inventory of hardware, software licences, and other IT assets.

Security and Compliance

Security Audits: – Conduct regular security audits and assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement necessary security measures.

Compliance: – Ensure IT systems comply with relevant regulations and standards, implementing necessary controls and documentation.

Documentation

Network and System Documentation: – Create and maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, systems, and procedures.

User Guides: – Develop user guides and documentation for end-users on common IT processes and procedures.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Proven experience as an IT Administrator, Network Administrator, or a similar role.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
