Responsibilities Include
- Provide overall direction, leadership, and management to ensure effective implementation of the activity
- Maintain strong and positive working relationships with clients and partners including USAID and local governments
- Develop and implement annual work plans and budgets that reflect the priorities of USAID, the Ministry of Public Health, and other key stakeholders
- Implement strategies that demonstrably improve malaria prevention, testing, and treatment, and reduce malaria mortality, morbidity, and parasitemia
- Supervise senior management team, technical and administrative staff, and subcontracting organizations
- Identify issues and risks related to project implementation in a timely manner and institute appropriate program adjustments
- Coordinate with relevant stakeholders in the provision of assistance to build the capacity and capability of national systems
- Ensure compliance with USAID, U.S. government, and Chemonics policies, as well as local laws, regulations, and procedures
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in public health, medicine, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible program management experience, preferably as chief of party or a similar role
- Experience leading complex international development programs is required; experience working with U.S. government and/or USAID implementing partners is preferred
- Experience in malaria program management in Zambia and/or Southern Africa is preferred
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with host-country officials, donors, and other key stakeholders
- Demonstrated supervisory work experience including supervision of technical teams and subcontractor partners
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Fluency in English required
Location of Assignment:
This is a long-term position for the life of the contract based in Lusaka, Zambia, with intermittent local and international travel as needed.
